Ashcroft answers demand with four more UK arenas

Richard Ashcroft has added four UK arena headline shows for March and April 2026 after demand outstripped his existing plans. The new nights are at Cardiff’s Utilita Arena on 24 March, Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena on 26 March, London’s The O2 on 28 March and Leeds’s First Direct Arena on 2 April. The trigger was the sell?out of his Co-op Live date in Manchester; the extra cities extend his arena footprint across Wales, the north?west, the capital and Yorkshire.

The announcement comes amid a live stretch already proven at home. Ashcroft played a sold?out Manchester headline show in November 2025, and, through August and into September 2026, he has taken and will take support slots on Oasis’s stadium shows. Those shows have put his voice and catalogue back in front of the crowds his writing was always built for. The four fresh dates turn that momentum into a headline run of his own.

A voice made for the big chorus

Ashcroft first came through as lead singer of The Verve, the band he fronted from their formation in 1990 until their original split in 1999. The songs he wrote in that decade — among them Bitter Sweet Symphony, Lucky Man and the UK number one The Drugs Don’t Work — fixed him in the British alternative rock canon and still carry the weight of a festival or arena bill. The Verve reformed in 2007 and had broken up again by the summer of 2009.

Solo work began without delay. Alone With Everybody arrived in 2000 and reached the top end of the UK charts; Human Conditions followed in 2002. After the second Verve split he formed RPA & The United Nations of Sound and released an album on 19 July 2010. These People came out on 20 May 2016, Natural Rebel in 2018, and the acoustic collection Acoustic Hymns Vol. 1 in 2021. Three of his solo albums have landed in the UK top three. The link with Oasis is not new either: a 2000 mix of C’mon People (We’re Making It Now) already carried a Liam Gallagher feature, long before the present stadium pairing.

Lovin’ You and the spring rooms

Lovin’ You is released on 3 October 2026. It is his seventh solo album and his first full set of all?new material since Natural Rebel in 2018. The single Lover has already been released. In the run?up he has kept the songs in public view. For listeners who have followed him from the Verve records through the solo run, the album is the first substantial new writing in eight years; for the arena audiences now buying tickets, it supplies fresh material alongside the choruses they already know.

What the added dates mark is straightforward. Co?op Live selling out showed a single Manchester night could not contain demand. The November 2025 headline had already tested the appetite; the Oasis stadium supports then placed Ashcroft in front of even larger crowds through late summer. Opening Cardiff, Liverpool, London and Leeds at arena capacity is the live response to that demand. His official site has carried the new 2026 dates as they were confirmed, with ticket sales strong since the announcement.

No further UK or Irish headline nights beyond the four cities have been confirmed. The near horizon is clear enough: Lovin’ You on 3 October, then the arena run through late March and into the first days of April. For an artist whose best writing has always aimed at the communal shout, the step up is less a reinvention than a return to the scale the songs always implied.
