Back to Black returns on disc and at the Roundhouse
Clear vinyl, unreleased demos, the full Paradiso tape and one London night with Ronson, Remi and guest voices — the anniversary lands in the third week of October.
The anniversary programme around Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black takes solid form this month: an expanded reissue through UMR/Island and a single night at London’s Roundhouse in which the album is played straight through. The reissue arrives on 23 October 2026. It is offered as a 3LP set on clear vinyl, as a 3CD edition and as a digital deluxe package. Across those formats sit four previously unreleased demos, a run of rare B-sides and the complete live performance captured at the Paradiso in Amsterdam on 8 February 2007. New photographs by Mischa Richter and Alex Lake are included, together with liner notes by Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi, the producers most closely tied to the original sessions. Limited variants sit beside the main pressings: a Chalkboard Marble vinyl and a Zoetrope edition sold only through the web store.
The Amsterdam tape and the studio leftovers
The Paradiso recording, made in the winter after the album’s first release, gives the set a full concert document from the period when the songs were still new on stage. The four demos and the rare B-sides pull material that sat outside the original 2006 sequence back into view. Ronson’s and Remi’s notes frame the work from the production side. The photographs by Richter and Lake supply a fresh visual record for the package rather than a simple reprint of older campaign shots.
Back to Black itself first appeared on 27 October 2006. Twenty years on, the catalogue treatment keeps the focus on the record — the writing, the arrangements, the voices and the stage versions that followed. The expanded edition does not invent a new narrative around the songs; it restores unfinished and side material, a complete live reading and contemporary documentation to sit beside the album proper.
One night at the Roundhouse
On 21 October 2026 the Amy Winehouse Band perform the album in sequence at the Roundhouse. Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi join them. Guest vocalists for the night are Jorja Smith, Corinne Bailey Rae, Lianne La Havas, Nia Smith, Baby Rose and Yebba. The show forms part of the same anniversary programme as the reissue and will be broadcast on BBC Two and BBC Radio 2.
That line-up places the original production team back with the band that carries the repertoire, and brings in singers whose own records have kept a clear line to the soul, jazz and R&B vocabulary the album drew on. The Roundhouse date falls two days before the reissue lands, so the live reading and the expanded set arrive essentially together. No further dates have been announced beyond that single London night.
What the programme offers, then, is straightforward: two decades after 27 October 2006, the songs return in a documented form on disc and on a London stage for one night, with the broadcast carrying the performance beyond the room. The demos, the Amsterdam tape, the producers’ notes and the guest voices keep the emphasis where this title’s readers expect it — on the records, the stage and the craft.
