Blossoms serve up Songs from the Wedding Cake
Two years on from Gary, the Stockport band turn ordinary days and marriage into ten tracks, with Declan McKenna appearing on two songs and a UK arena tour still ahead this winter.
Blossoms have released their sixth studio album, Songs from the Wedding Cake, through ODD SK Recordings and Distiller Records. The ten-track set arrived on 2 October after sessions at Tilehouse Studios in Denham, Buckinghamshire, with Shawn Lee as producer. It follows Gary, the album the Stockport group released in 2024.The record explores ordinary moments viewed through an extraordinary lens. Themes of marriage and daily life run through the songs. This approach shapes a track list that balances domestic titles, pop-culture references and direct address — a domestic centre held up for a closer look.
Four singles and a pair of guests
Four singles preceded the album. 'Joke About Divorce' was among the first. 'Meet Me in Love' features backing vocals from Declan McKenna and a video starring Maya Jama. McKenna appears again on 'Additional Driver', this time as a featured artist. 'Husband' rounded out the pre-release singles.
The other six tracks on the album are 'The Kardashians', 'Fall Into You', 'Guts', 'Uma Thurman', 'Where Have You Been My Whole Life?' and 'The Deep End'. Together they complete a ten-song sequence that stays close to the ground: everyday scenes, private feeling and the small dramas of ordinary days.
Declan McKenna, the English singer-songwriter, links two of the album's public faces. His backing vocals on 'Meet Me in Love' and his featured turn on 'Additional Driver' tie into how the record has been presented. Maya Jama's role in the 'Meet Me in Love' video is a visible strand of the release campaign.
From Denham to the winter arenas
Blossoms are an English indie pop band from Stockport. The two-year gap since Gary places this release as the next full-length statement in a run of records rather than a break with what came before. For a group whose catalogue has grown album by album, a sixth studio set is another marker of continuity.
Production by Shawn Lee and the choice of Tilehouse Studios give the album a clear recorded setting. ODD SK Recordings and Distiller Records handle the release. The practical details — studio, producer, labels — fix the record in a specific working frame ahead of the live dates that follow.
A UK arena tour in support of the album was announced earlier and is set for November and December 2026. Those shows will be the first large-scale live test of the new material, after the singles and the full album have had their initial run with listeners. How songs drawn from marriage, routine and ordinary life land in rooms built for scale is the question those dates will answer.
A review of the album appeared on 30 September, days before the release. With the record now out, the winter arena run is the next fixed point on the calendar. The album is available; the gigs are the chapter still to come.
