Currie and Harvie take conversation on the road

The run opens at Kidderminster Town Hall in March and finishes in Bude in June, with six Scottish dates and tickets already on sale.

Justin Currie and Iain Harvie of Del Amitri have set a spoken-word tour for 2027 under the title 45 Years of Modest Failure: An Evening of Conversation with Justin Currie & Iain Harvie. The run opens on 18 March 2027 at Kidderminster Town Hall and closes on 20 June 2027 in Bude. The pair announced the dates on the band's official website on 10 September 2026, with tickets on sale the following day through Away With Media.

Each night is built on unscripted storytelling, reflection and questions from the audience. No support acts have been named, and nothing beyond the two of them has been confirmed for the stage. Currie has said the format allows a more direct exchange with fans than the standard patter of a full-band gig.

Dates across England and Scotland

Confirmed stops include The Hexagon in Reading on 22 March 2027 and Arlington Arts in Snelsmore on 1 April 2027. Six of the shows fall in Scotland, bringing the conversation back to the country where the band began in Glasgow. The full route between the March opening and the June finish in Bude was not laid out stop by stop in the first announcement, beyond those named venues and the Scottish dates.

The framing is deliberate. 45 Years of Modest Failure meets a long career with a dry shrug rather than a victory lap. Currie and Harvie are not billing a hits set or a conventional acoustic night. They are offering the talk that usually stays in the wings — how the work was made, what the years felt like from the inside, and whatever the room wants to ask once the conversation is under way.

An intimate alternative to the full band show

Spoken evenings of this kind give writers and band leaders a different relationship with fans who have followed the records. The draw, for an audience that already knows the songs, is the chance to hear the career discussed rather than replayed. Del Amitri have spent decades on stage in the usual way; this tour sets that apparatus aside and keeps only the two voices most closely tied to the group's identity across those years.

What remains unset is the fine detail of each night. There is no public word yet on whether any songs will be played, how long the conversation is expected to run, or whether film, photographs or other archive material will sit beside the talk. The pitch from the band has stayed simple: two people, a room, and the years behind them.

As things stand in early October 2026, tickets are on sale, the 18 March date in Kidderminster is the first fixed point and the 20 June night in Bude is the last; further additions have not been announced.
