Fontaines D.C. press the Rosalía cut as a shop-only 7"
Listening parties across Ireland tomorrow put the Dopamine Chamber track in a handful of shops for one night only, days before the album lands on XL.
Fontaines D.C. will release their collaborative track with Rosalía, Where Is Gone?, as a limited-edition white-label 7" vinyl, available only at exclusive listening parties on 8 October 2026. The single is the Dublin band’s first-ever guest vocalist appearance on a track, and the pressing will not go on general sale. The parties take place at record shops across Ireland, among them Ben O’Neill Music Shop in Dungarvan, Bending Sound Records in Bangor, HMV in Belfast, and Spindizzy Records and Tower Records in Dublin, with further venues listed on the band’s site. The format is a white label, and the window is one night only: the release is tied to the listening events rather than a conventional retail campaign.
From Romance to the chamber
The cut belongs to Dopamine Chamber, the band’s forthcoming album, set for release on 16 October 2026 via XL Recordings. Two tracks from the record are already out. Marianne became their highest-charting single to date in the UK and Ireland, reaching No. 2 on the Official Irish Singles Chart; Tongue followed and opened the run-up to the full album. Rosalía had already been named on the record when Tongue arrived at the end of September; the white-label 7" now gives that collaboration a physical life of its own, days before the album itself.
Grian Chatten has described Dopamine Chamber as a “dopamine chamber” testing “mind or mood-altering pieces of music”, carrying a “poignant sense of us being on the brink of some other kind of form of humanity”. The band have framed the record around darker and more synthetic sounds, in search of pleasure in what they call a world tipping towards collapse under digital and artificial pressure. The Rosalía appearance sits inside that shift: a first guest voice on a Fontaines D.C. track, at the point where the writing leans further into texture and mood.
The line from the early singles through the albums is clear enough for anyone who has followed them. Fontaines D.C. formed in Dublin in 2017, after meeting around a shared interest in music and poetry, and built a reputation on concise, trenchant indie-punk and a fierce live reputation across Ireland, the UK and Europe. Dogrel arrived in 2019, A Hero’s Death in 2020, Skinty Fia in 2022 and Romance in 2024, with further singles and sessions filling the gaps between. Dopamine Chamber is the next full statement after Romance, and the XL release places it in a different label chapter from the Partisan years that launched the band. Chatten’s own solo work, including Chaos For The Fly in 2023, has run alongside without displacing the group as the main vehicle.
What the night of shops is for
A shop-only white label is a deliberate scale of release: it treats the Rosalía collaboration as an event for the people who will actually be in those rooms on 8 October, rather than as a mass single drop. For a band whose live reputation has always mattered as much as the records, the choice fits. It also keeps the physical object scarce in the week before Dopamine Chamber arrives in full.
Rosalía herself was named Songwriter of the Year at the 2026 Ivor Novello Awards for her cultural and commercial impact in the UK, which gives the guest credit a further weight on this side of the water. The collaboration is not a side note on the album credits; it is the first time Fontaines D.C. have opened a track to an outside voice, and the 7" is how that moment reaches Irish shops first.
After the album, the band will tour the UK and Europe, including sold-out dates at Slane Castle. The listening parties come first, tomorrow; the full record follows on the 16th; the road comes after that. A full list of the participating shops is on the band’s site for anyone still planning where to hear Where Is Gone? on white vinyl before the chamber opens properly.
