Fontaines D.C. return to headline Primavera Sound

Three days at Parc del Fòrum next June mark the festival's 25th anniversary, as Dopamine Chamber nears release and fan registration closes tomorrow.

Fontaines D.C. and Massive Attack will headline Primavera Sound Barcelona next June, as the Catalan festival marks its 25th anniversary with three days of music at Parc del Fòrum from 3 to 5 June.

The Dublin group return to the top of the bill after previous appearances in 2022 and 2025. Their new album, Dopamine Chamber, is due on 16 October. Massive Attack step into a headline slot after the cancellation of their set at the 2026 edition. Phoebe Bridgers, Robyn and Doechii are confirmed among the other headliners.

From Dublin rooms to the main stage

Fontaines D.C. met as a quintet in Dublin, shaped by the city's counter-culture and quick to turn that charge into concise indie-punk. Early singles such as 'Hurricane Laughter', 'Liberty Belle', 'Chequeless Reckless', 'Boys in the Better Land' and 'Too Real' set the tone before their first album. Live work across Ireland, the UK and Europe — including supports with Hinds, The Horrors, Girl Band, Franz Ferdinand and The Lemon Twigs, and festival sets at Electric Picnic, Hard Working Class Heroes and Other Voices — built a reputation for brooding, trenchant performances that matched the records.

Dogrel arrived in 2019. A Hero's Death followed in 2020, then Skinty Fia in 2022 and the related Skinty Fia go deo the year after. Romance landed in 2024, with the single 'It's Amazing To Be Young' in 2025. Dopamine Chamber now extends that run into autumn 2026, only weeks after the Primavera announcement and more than half a year before the Barcelona dates. Headline status at a major European festival of this scale is a clear marker of how far the band have travelled since those first Dublin shows.

Irish weight on the wider bill

The 2027 line-up already carries several further Irish names. Bicep, Gilla Band, Dove Ellis and Madra Salach are among the acts confirmed alongside Fontaines D.C. Day-by-day scheduling has not yet been published.

The previous Barcelona edition in 2026 featured The Cure, Gorillaz, My Bloody Valentine, PinkPantheress and Kneecap. Adverse weather disrupted several performances that year. Massive Attack's cancelled 2026 appearance is answered by their return as headliners for the anniversary.

Registration closes, then the rush

Fan sale registration closes on 7 October. Tickets go on sale from 8 October at 11 a.m., remaining available for 24 hours or until sold out. Further acts are expected to join the bill between now and next summer as Primavera Sound fills out the anniversary programme.

For Fontaines D.C., the booking arrives as a new album reaches shops and streaming platforms and as the live diary points towards one of Europe's largest city festivals. For the festival itself, the first wave of headliners sets the tone for a 25th edition built on both returning heavyweights and acts still expanding their reach.
