Joe Jackson brings Hope and Fury to Ireland and the UK

Cork City Hall took the new songs yesterday. Dublin’s 3Olympia Theatre follows on Sunday, then Bristol and Cambridge, before a European run that stretches into December.

Joe Jackson played Cork City Hall on 24 September as the European leg of his Hope and Fury Tour moved through Ireland. Next comes the 3Olympia Theatre in Dublin on 27 September, then the Bristol Beacon on 29 September and Cambridge Corn Exchange on 1 October, with further UK and European shows running through December.

The dates support *Hope and Fury*, the nine-track rock album released in April 2026. The record was cut with Graham Maby, Teddy Kumpel, Doug Yowell and Paulo Stagnaro — the same line-up now on the road. Jackson has described the album as Bicoastal LatinJazzFunkRock and as a cross between earlier works. The European stretch follows a North American run earlier in the year.

From Look Sharp! to Hope and Fury

David Ian “Joe” Jackson is an English singer, songwriter and musician who spent years studying music and working the clubs before his first release. “Is She Really Going Out with Him?” became a hit in 1979 and announced a run of new-wave singles drawn from *Look Sharp!* and *I’m the Man*, both issued that year. *Beat Crazy* arrived in 1980. He then turned to the jump-blues of *Joe Jackson’s Jumpin’ Jive* in 1981, before *Night and Day* in 1982 delivered the top-ten single “Steppin’ Out” and fixed his place in the Second British Invasion of the United States.

The pattern ever since has been restlessness rather than repetition. Soundtrack work for *Mike’s Murder*, classical composition and a long catalogue of studio albums — twenty in all, with five Grammy Award nominations — have kept the writing in motion. The new set does not attempt a return to any single era; it sits as another chapter in a body of work that has moved between rock, jazz-inflected pop and other forms without apology.

The road still ahead

With the Cork date already played, the live focus shifts to the shows still to come. Dublin’s 3Olympia Theatre on 27 September is the immediate next stop for Irish audiences. Bristol Beacon follows two days later, with Cambridge Corn Exchange on 1 October. Beyond those nights the itinerary continues across the UK and Europe into December.
