Kingfishr took Halcyon from Limerick to the Forum

Kingfishr locked in a headline tour of the UK and Europe for November and December 2025 — their first extended run behind debut album Halcyon, released on 22 August 2025. The Limerick folk?rock trio played Glasgow’s Barrowland Ballroom on 24 November, Newcastle University on 25 November, Manchester’s Albert Hall on 26 November, Nottingham’s Rock City on 28 November, Leeds Beckett Students’ Union on 29 November, Birmingham’s O2 Institute on 30 November, Bristol’s O2 Academy on 2 December and London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town on 3 December. Earlier European dates were also on the itinerary. Diamonds & Roses was released as a new single to carry the album into the live rooms.

Three voices out of the University of Limerick

The band are Edmond Keogh on lead vocals and guitar, Eoghan “McGoo” McGrath on vocals and banjo, and Eoin Fitzgibbon on vocals and guitar. They formed in 2017 while studying engineering at the University of Limerick and took their name from the kingfisher, a native Irish bird known for its bright blue plumage and sharp flight. The music that followed mixes folk, rock and electronica with touches of spoken word and world music; it has been praised for powerful vocals, catchy melodies and thought-provoking lyrics, and has drawn comparisons to U2, Ben Howard and Hans Zimmer.

Their first single, Flowers Fire, arrived in 2022, in the week before their final exams. Eyes Don’t Lie, Heart In The Water, Anyway, Caroline, Headlands and a string of further releases followed, including acoustic and reworked versions that kept the catalogue moving between full-band force and stripped-back settings. Support slots for George Ezra and Dermot Kennedy came next, then an opening slot for Bruce Springsteen at Hyde Park in London. Festival stages across Britain — Live At Leeds, Neighbourhood Weekender, Barn On The Farm, Latitude — and a sold-out debut at Workman’s Cellar in Dublin marked the step from student circuit to national rooms.

Halcyon, Killeagh and the rooms ahead

Halcyon is the first full-length statement after that run of singles. It landed on 22 August 2025; Diamonds & Roses sat beside it as a calling card for the autumn dates, while earlier 2025 and 2026 cuts such as Gloria, Man On The Moon and The Blade belong to the same chapter of work. Along the way the band reached number one with Killeagh and headlined Dublin’s 3Arena — a climb few Irish acts manage within a handful of years.

The November and December shows therefore arrived with real weight. The Barrowland, the Albert Hall, Rock City and the O2 Forum are rooms that reward the blend the trio have been sharpening since those first Limerick sessions: three-part vocals, banjo and guitar, folk roots and rock drive. For an audience that already knew the singles and the 3Arena nights, the UK run was the chance to hear Halcyon as a whole set rather than a sequence of releases.

What remained was the ordinary business of a debut album on the road: tickets through the usual outlets, the European dates that framed the British leg, and whatever further singles the band chose to pull from the record before the year turned. Kingfishr moved from engineering lectures and a kingfisher’s name to number-one singles and arena headlines; the Forum on 3 December was simply the next room on that map.
