Madness finally land Bedford Park next July

Tickets open at 10am today for the long-chased booking, with Scouting for Girls in support and a full run of forest and racecourse dates already set for summer 2027.

Madness will headline Live at Bedford Park in Bedford on Friday 2 July 2027. Promoters Cuffe & Taylor confirmed the booking on 18 September 2026 as part of a four-day concert series running from 1 to 4 July 2027. Scouting for Girls support the ska band on the Friday night.

Promoter Mark Harrison explained why the date matters locally. “After many years of chasing Madness, we have now confirmed this iconic band for Live in Bedford Park 2027. For at least the last ten years, this is one act I’ve been continually asked to secure for Bedford.” Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday 25 September 2026.

The Bedford show sits inside a wider run of Madness outdoor dates already confirmed for summer 2027. The list includes Delamere Forest, Thetford Forest, Cartmel Racecourse, Cannock Chase, Westonbirt Arboretum, Rochester Castle and York Racecourse. All are upcoming.

Camden roots, park stages

Madness are an English ska and pop band from Camden Town, north London, who formed in 1976. They became one of the most prominent groups of the late 1970s and early 1980s two-tone ska revival and continue to perform with six of the seven members of their original line-up. Their strongest commercial stretch ran from 1980 to 1986, when the band’s songs spent a total of 214 weeks on the UK Singles Chart.

The debut album *One Step Beyond...* arrived in 1979, the same year as the single *The Prince*. *Absolutely* followed in 1980 and *7* in 1981. Singles from that period include *It Must Be Love*, *Cardiac Arrest* and *Driving In My Car*. The catalogue has continued to grow in recent years: *Theatre of the Absurd presents C'est La Vie* landed in 2023, with an enhanced edition in 2024, and the album *Hit Parade* followed in 2025. Outdoor summer shows have long been part of how the band meet their audience; the 2027 run extends that across forests, racecourses, a castle and now Bedford Park.

For a group still built around so much of the original Camden line-up, the scale of the summer itinerary is familiar rather than novel. What is new for Bedford is the booking itself. Harrison’s remarks make plain that the promoters had been after the band for a decade and that local demand had been steady. Landing Madness on a Friday inside a four-day park series answers that pressure with a date that sits cleanly in the middle of the band’s own outdoor calendar.

What the ticket window opens

The immediate question is how quickly tickets for Bedford Park will sell. The wider 2027 outdoor list gives Madness a spread of venues well beyond a single park night: woodland stages, racecourse grounds and Rochester Castle sit alongside the Bedford date, so the Bedford show is one stop on a deliberate summer shape rather than a one-off. Nothing further has been confirmed beyond the dates already named, and no indoor winter run is attached to this announcement.

Live at Bedford Park itself runs across four days from 1 to 4 July 2027. Madness close the Friday, with Scouting for Girls supporting. For a band whose early records still define a stretch of British ska and pop, and whose recent albums show they have not stopped writing, the booking keeps the outdoor circuit current while finally settling a request Bedford promoters say they have heard for years.
