Oasis tour film leaves the cinema behind

Streaming later this year will carry Live ’25, the brothers’ first joint interviews in two decades, and a season of stadium nights already fixed in the fans’ memory.

The limited theatrical and IMAX release of *Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger*, which began on 11 September, is reaching the end of its first run on the big screen. Streaming will follow later in 2026 on Disney+ internationally and on Hulu and Disney+ in the United States. No further cinema dates beyond that initial window have been announced.

Directed by Will Lovelace and Dylan Southern and written by Steven Knight, the film runs 122 minutes and is rated R for language. It was produced by Magna Studios and is presented by Sony Music Vision. Its subject is the band’s Live ’25 reunion tour, the first Oasis dates since the sixteen-year split that followed a backstage incident in Paris in 2009.

What the cameras held

Rehearsal and backstage footage sits beside full concert performances and a wide sweep of fan reaction from the stadium shows. At the centre are the first joint interviews Liam Gallagher and Noel Gallagher have given in more than twenty years. Reviews have described the film as uplifting and emotionally charged, a celebration of the band and the audience rather than a return to old personal scores. The film premiered at the Venice International Film Festival around 5 September, where it drew an eight-minute standing ovation, and had its UK premiere on 7 September. It has been placed among the major music documentaries of 2026.

From Manchester to Live ’25

Oasis formed in Manchester in 1991, first as the Rain, with Liam Gallagher on vocals, Paul Arthurs on guitar, Paul McGuigan and Tony McCarroll. Noel Gallagher joined a few months later, became the de facto leader and took on the songwriting that shaped the early catalogue. *Definitely Maybe* arrived in 1994 and announced the band at full volume; *(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?* followed in 1995. They became one of the defining and most widely travelled groups of Britpop.

The title of the new film borrows one of Noel’s own songs from that second album — a gesture that fits a project built around the live return of that repertoire rather than a private post-mortem. After the 2009 split Liam fronted Beady Eye and, from 2017, a solo run that began with *As You Were*; Noel worked under his own name and with High Flying Birds. The only constants in Oasis across the original years had been the two brothers.

Live ’25 put the songs back in stadiums. Cuts from those nights have already reached listeners as singles: *Slide Away* from Cardiff, *Cigarettes & Alcohol* from Manchester, *Little By Little* from London, *Wonderwall* from Dublin, *Bring It On Down* from Edinburgh, and *Acquiesce* from Wembley. The documentary freezes that season — the gigs, the rehearsals, the brothers speaking on camera together — as a single piece of work.

What comes next

For a station playlist that still turns on those records every day, the film’s value is plain: it is a document of the songs in front of the crowds that kept them current, not a recycling of the feud. As the cinema window closes, the same footage moves towards the living room later this year. That is where the wider audience will meet Live ’25 on demand, after a short, loud run on the big screen.
