Placebo put the early albums back on the Latin American stage

Ten dates from São Paulo on 20 February through to Monterrey in March will revive songs absent from recent setlists; fan pre-sales began on 22 and 23 September 2026, with general sale to follow.

Placebo have announced a ten-date tour of Latin America for February and March 2027, built around material from their 1996 eponymous debut and the 1998 follow-up *Without You I’m Nothing*. The shows will bring back songs that have been absent from recent setlists.

The run opens on 20 February 2027 at Suhai Music Hall in São Paulo, Brazil, before continuing through Brasília, Curitiba and Porto Alegre. In March the band play Buenos Aires at Estadio Malvinas Argentinas, Santiago at Estadio Bicentenario de La Florida, Lima at Arena 1, Bogotá at Movistar Arena, Guadalajara at Auditorio Telmex and Monterrey at Auditorio Banamex.

Fan pre-sales began on 22 and 23 September 2026, depending on territory, with general ticket sales due to follow.

London beginnings and the first two records

Placebo formed in London in 1994 around vocalist–guitarist Brian Molko and bassist–guitarist Stefan Olsdal. Drummer Robert Schultzberg joined in late 1994 and played on the self-titled debut, released in 1996, but left the same year after conflicts with Molko and was replaced by Steve Hewitt. Molko was born in Belgium and Olsdal in Sweden; both grew up in Luxembourg before relocating separately to London, and both hold British citizenship.

That debut and *Without You I’m Nothing* fixed the band’s early identity in British alternative rock. A B-sides collection tied to the second album appeared in 1998, and in 1999 an EP carried a version of the title track featuring David Bowie. *Black Market Music* followed in 2000; *Sleeping with Ghosts* and the covers set *Covers* arrived in 2003. Later studio work continued through the 2000s and 2010s. On the more recent side of the catalogue sit the 2016 EP *Life’s What You Make It*, the 2022 album *Never Let Me Go* with the singles Beautiful James and Shout, and the 2023 live release *Collapse Into Never – Live In Europe 2023*.

A set built on 1996 and 1998

Framing a tour around the first two albums is a deliberate turn toward the mid-1990s work rather than a career-spanning survey. For an audience that knows the later records and the recent European live document, these dates put the early songs back at the centre of the night. Placebo remain on the Eirewave playlist; the Latin American run gives that early catalogue a dedicated stage on a scale the band have not given it for years.

The geography is wide. Four Brazilian cities open the itinerary in February. Six further dates in March stretch from Argentina and Chile through Peru and Colombia into two Mexican venues. Capacities range from dedicated music halls such as Suhai Music Hall and Auditorio Telmex to larger arena and stadium spaces including Movistar Arena and Estadio Bicentenario de La Florida, matching a band with a long history of large-room shows.

Nothing has been confirmed beyond these ten dates. Whether the same focus on *Placebo* and *Without You I’m Nothing* will shape later legs in other regions is not yet known. For the moment the picture is clear: the run opens in São Paulo on 20 February 2027 and concludes in Monterrey in March; tickets are moving from fan pre-sale to general sale, and the set is designed to put the 1996 and 1998 records back under the lights.
