Plant's Saving Grace EP finally reaches digital platforms
Four folk and Americana tracks first pressed for Record Store Day in April are out on streaming via Nonesuch while the Up the Sharp End US run continues through mid-October.
Robert Plant releases the four-track digital EP Saving Grace: All That Glitters… today, 9 October 2026, through Nonesuch Records. The set had already appeared as a limited vinyl edition for Record Store Day in April 2026; the digital issue puts the same recordings on streaming and download services for the first time. The EP continues the folk and Americana focus of Plant’s 2025 album Saving Grace. Its four songs are The Blackest Crow, a traditional piece; Orphan Girl, written by Gillian Welch; Two Coats, another traditional number; and Poison, the Bert Jansch composition. The choices keep the project inside roots repertoire rather than returning to the rock catalogue with which Plant first became widely known.
The Saving Grace line-up
Vocals are shared with Suzi Dian. The band credited on the recordings is the Saving Grace group assembled around the 2025 album: Oli Jefferson on drums, Tony Kelsey on guitar, Matt Worley on banjo and strings, and Barney Morse-Brown on cello. That continuity matters. The EP is presented as further work from the same unit, not a side session or a one-off guest cast, and the instrumental colours — banjo, cello, acoustic guitar, restrained drums — match the grain of the parent record.
A video for Two Coats was issued on 10 September 2026, at the same time as the digital release was announced. The clip gave listeners a first look at how the group was framing the traditional material on screen ahead of today’s wider rollout. Two Coats sits among the two traditional titles on the EP; placing it as the advance track underlined the project’s roots direction before the full four-song set arrived on digital platforms.
From shop counter to streaming
The Record Store Day vinyl was, by design, a limited pressing. Collectors who found a copy in April had the only physical route to the four tracks; everyone else waited. Nonesuch’s digital release removes that barrier without rewriting the credits or the song list. The Blackest Crow and Two Coats remain filed as traditional; Orphan Girl stays with Welch; Poison stays with Jansch. Dian and the five-piece Saving Grace band remain the performers of record.
The timing lines up with the road. Plant and Saving Grace are in the middle of the Up the Sharp End tour of the United States, with dates running through 15 October 2026. The EP therefore lands while the same repertoire and the same line-up are still being played to American audiences. The digital drop does not announce a new studio album or a change of band; it widens access to material already cut and already previewed on the autumn video.
In career terms the short set reads as a companion, not a pivot. After Saving Grace in 2025, these four songs keep the same circle of traditional sources and contemporary folk writers, the same co-vocal partnership, and the same instrumental palette. Listeners who followed the 2025 album into the live dates now have the extra tracks in ordinary digital form rather than as a Record Store Day scarcity. For a project built on folk and Americana songcraft, that is the practical shift today: the same EP, the same band, available beyond the vinyl counter while the US tour still has a week to run.
