Primal Scream's XTRMNTR tour ended in the capital

Primal Scream completed their XTRMNTR 2026 tour with a night at HERE at Outernet in London on 15 September. The show closed a UK run that opened in Glasgow on 3 and 4 September and continued in Newcastle (8 September), Nottingham (9 September), Manchester (11 September) and Bristol (13 September). Each date presented the 2000 album in full.

Each night's set ran through the record without interruption, taking in 'Kill All Hippies', 'Accelerator', 'Exterminator' and 'Swastika Eyes' among others. Reviews of the London performance praised the album's enduring force and the production's visuals, which adapted artwork by Julian House for the stage.

The record in the catalogue

Primal Scream are a Scottish band formed in Glasgow in 1982 by Bobby Gillespie and Jim Beattie. The current line-up comprises Gillespie on vocals, Andrew Innes on guitar, Simone Butler on bass and Darrin Mooney on drums. Barrie Cadogan has toured and recorded with the band since 2006, after the departure of guitarist Robert Young.

XTRMNTR arrived in 2000. It followed Sonic Flower Groove (1987), Primal Scream (1989), Screamadelica (1991), Give Out But Don't Give Up (1994) and Vanishing Point (1997). The same year saw the release of the Swastika Eyes single. In the years since, the band have issued Chaosmosis (2016), Give Out But Don't Give Up (The Original Memphis Recordings) (2018), the Movin' On Up EP (2019), Live at Levitation (2021), Reverberations (Travelling In Time) (2023), Come Ahead (2024) and the Ready To Go Home EP (2024).

Staging a complete album is a deliberate frame. It confines the night to a single body of work rather than a survey of decades. For a group whose catalogue stretches from the mid-1980s to Come Ahead, the choice put weight on a particular chapter and let that chapter's songs carry the evening in their original sequence. Twenty-six years separate the original release from these dates; the live format collapsed that distance without turning the show into a greatest-hits package.

After Come Ahead

The tour sat downstream of Come Ahead, released in 2024, and of a Roundhouse anniversary show in 2025. Come Ahead stands as the band's most recent studio album before they took XTRMNTR back on the road. The 2026 schedule was announced months earlier, with the London date always listed as the final stop. Confirmation appeared on the band's official website alongside the wider announcement of the full-album plan.

Earlier nights in Glasgow had already established the shape of the set before the English leg. The Outernet show was the last chance on this run to hear the album complete under the same visual scheme. Nothing on the advertised list remains unplayed; Glasgow, the English dates and London are now in the past. Primal Scream leave the XTRMNTR run having carried the 2000 album through a concentrated stretch of UK rooms, with the tracklist and the Julian House-derived visuals intact to the end.
