Radiohead lock in 21 arena nights for 2027

Radiohead have set a 21-date run of arena residencies across Australia and Japan in May and June 2027. The dates were announced on 7 September 2026 via the band’s official website and social channels; ticket registration opened the same day.

The itinerary begins with four nights at RAC Arena in Perth from 3 to 7 May. Six shows follow at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne between 13 and 20 May, then six more at Afterpay Arena in Sydney from 25 May to 1 June. The run closes with five nights at GMO Arena in Saitama, Japan, from 8 to 13 June. No European or North American dates were announced alongside the Pacific leg.

These will be the band’s first Australian headline shows since 2012 and their first headline run in Japan since 2008 — a long stretch away from those stages for a group whose live reputation has always rested on careful pacing rather than constant touring.

Abingdon to the arenas

Radiohead formed in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, in 1985. The line-up has held steady: Thom Yorke, brothers Jonny Greenwood and Colin Greenwood, Ed O’Brien and Philip Selway. From 1994 they have worked with producer Nigel Godrich and cover artist Stanley Donwood, a partnership that helped shape an experimental approach widely credited with pushing alternative rock beyond its early-nineties template.

The recorded path runs from the *Drill* EP and *Pablo Honey* in the early 1990s through a run of albums that redefined what a major rock band could sound like. *A Moon Shaped Pool* arrived in 2016, followed by the archival *KID A MNESIA* set in 2021 and, in 2025, *Hail to the Thief (Live Recordings 2003-2009)*. That last release underlined how central the stage has remained even when new studio albums have been spaced further apart. The 2027 residencies sit in that same tradition: fewer cities, more nights, rooms large enough to hold the full weight of the catalogue.

What the dates say

A residency format — four, five or six consecutive nights in a single arena — is a deliberate choice. It allows the set to breathe across an evening and across a week, rather than forcing a one-night greatest-hits shape on every market. For audiences in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Saitama it is the first chance in well over a decade to hear that material in rooms of this scale under the Radiohead name.

The announcement leaves the rest of the map blank. Nothing has been confirmed for Europe or North America, and no new studio album has been tied to the dates. What is fixed is the Pacific run itself: twenty-one shows, four cities, ticket registration already under way, and a return to territories the band have not headlined since the years immediately after *The King of Limbs* and the long shadow of *In Rainbows*. For a group that has always treated touring as part of the work rather than a routine obligation, the shape of these residencies is the story as much as the fact of them.
