The Snuts land 'PTS' as their fourth album approaches

Written the morning after Scotland beat Denmark, the single precedes the album Joy In Short Moments; November dates run from Dundee to Newcastle and the full record is due on 23 October.

The Snuts have released their new single 'PTS', the penultimate track from their fourth album Joy In Short Moments. The song was released on 29 September 2026, with the record set for 23 October 2026 on Happy Artist Records in partnership with Virgin Music Group.

Frontman Jack Cochrane pinpointed the moment the track was written. "It was the penultimate track we wrote for the record. I remember stumbling our way through it the morning after Scotland beat Denmark to reach the World Cup: pure elation, a shooting star of collective celebration. It's incredible the emotions something as trivial as football can spark. We started digging into why belief in yourself is so often absent in young people where we're from, and the song became an outlet to explore things I feel get left at the bottom of the 'important to talk about' pile: growing up without a positive role model, generational trauma. 'PTS' is a remedy to melancholy, an end to past-life pain. It's a song for widespread forgiveness, of others and of yourself."

The album marks a return to their roots in West Lothian. Themes of self-belief, generational trauma and forgiveness sit at the centre of the new single, turning a night of collective celebration into something more lasting than a result.

From school halls to a fourth record

The Snuts are four close friends who grew up together in West Lothian: Jack Cochrane on vocals and guitar, Joe McGillveray on guitar, Callum "29" Wilson on bass and Jordan "Joko" Mackay on drums. Their name came from people who watched them play at school, back when they struggled to keep time with each other. Since 2016 the quartet have been writing songs bursting with vigour, beginning with demo tracks including Glasgow, Proper and Sing For Your Supper. An EP, The Matador, followed in 2017, offering the title track, What's Going On and Summertime.

By 2018 the singles Seasons and Manhattan Project had pushed them further into the conversation around new Scottish rock. Airplay on BBC Radio 6 Music, BBC Radio 1 and Absolute Radio helped, as did a loyal live following built in rooms such as Glasgow's King Tut's Wah Wah Hut. Further singles in 2019 — Maybe California and Juan Belmonte — sat alongside a sold-out headline UK tour and festival slots at Reading & Leeds, Benicàssim and TRNSMT. They also supported Lewis Capaldi on the road.

The run has continued through later singles and the 2024 album Millennials, with Summer Rain among the 2026 releases already on the books. Joy In Short Moments arrives as their fourth album, bringing the story back to where it began and towards the honesty that first marked those early West Lothian gigs.

November dates across Scotland and the North

The band will tour the UK in November. Confirmed dates include Dundee Livehouse on 19 November, Aberdeen Beach Ballroom on 20 November, Edinburgh Corn Exchange on 21 November, Dunfermline Alhambra Theatre on 23 November and Newcastle O2 City Hall on 24 November.

With 'PTS' now out and the album a little over three weeks away, the autumn stretch puts the new material in front of audiences who have followed the quartet from schoolrooms and King Tut's to the bigger stages. What remains is the full shape of Joy In Short Moments, due on 23 October, and the rooms waiting in November.
